Micke Grove Zoo offers a variety of Head Start Domain
and California science standards based programs for students in
Pre-Kindergarten and up. If you are interested in reserving an
EdZOOcation Program, please complete the reservation request form
and submit at least three weeks before your desired program date.
5/13/13 UPDATE:
The Education Department is completely booked through May
31, 2013. Only requests for Zoo-to-You visits or afternoon on-site
programs will be accepted for dates June 1 - July 19, 2013 because
of summer ZOOfari Camp (June 3-19).

Program Request Form
Zoo-rific Discovery (Pre-K through Kindergarten)
This 30-minute presentation introduces children to animal facts about movements, body parts, and textures, and includes bio facts, story time, and a live animal encounter.
Cost: $100.00 (includes zoo admission fees for
children, teachers and one free adult chaperone every five children)
Times: 9:30 AM; 11:00AM; 1:00PM & 2:30PM.
Capacity: 25 children (maximum)
Animal Discovery Tour (First through Sixth Grade)
Students will learn about adaptations, habitats and conservation, explore bio facts, experience a live animal encounter, and discover the animals at Micke Grove Zoo during this presentation and guided tour.
Cost: $150.00 (includes zoo admission fees for
students, teachers and one free adult chaperone every eight
children)
Times: 9:30AM; 11:00AM; 1:00PM; & 2:30PM. 90-minute
duration
Capacity: 20 students (minimum), 35 students
(maximum)
Introductory Zoo Tour (Ages 7+)
Students will be introduced to the many animals housed at Micke Grove Zoo during this guided tour designed for small groups.
Cost: $3.00 per student, $5.00 per
teacher/adult chaperone (includes zoo admission fees)
Times: 9:30AM; 11:00AM; 1:00PM & 2:30PM 30-minute duration
Capacity: 25 participants (maximum)
Zoo to You! (K+)
Zoo staff will travel to your school and engage students in a science standards based discussion using hands-on observations of bio-facts and a live animal encounter. Topics include: Fur; Feather; Skin & Scales (Pre-K - 1); Critter Crack-Ups (1st - 2nd); Reptiles & Amphibians (2nd- 5th), and Endangered Species (4th - 6th). Programs for older age groups may be customized. Please note that the education staff may not allow children under the age of 5 to touch live animals.
Cost: $150.00 for the first presentation, $75.00
for each additional presentation on same visit
Times: 9:30AM; 10:30AM; 1:30PM & 2:30PM; 45-minute
